difference between on-page and off-page seo

Search Engine Optimization procedure is divided into two parts On-Page SEO and Off-Page SEO. Both are important to the success of Search Engine Optimization. But they are completely different when it comes to improving SEO. On-Page SEO assigns with the quality of the website that can be optimized for search engines. Off-Page deals with the other website to create backlinks. Let’s understand the difference between On-Page and Off-Page SEO.

On-Page SEO

On-Page SEO is all about what you do on your website and every page in order to grow the traffic. This is the first thing that every SEO Expert should do when optimizing a website. On-Page SEO needs to be non-stop
re-examine, If you want to improve your ranking.

These are the main components of On-Page SEO:-
  • URL
  • Meta Title
  • Meta Description
  • Heading
  • Content
  • Internal Links
  • Images
  • Videos

URL: When we open a website on the top we see the URL. We need to include our focus keyword in that URL (Except home page).

Meta Title: Always keep 55-60 characters under Meta Title with your focus keyword. Try to include your focus keyword at the beginning of the sentence. Keep your Meta Title unique, make it compelling enough on click, keep it in title case, and always put your brand name at the end.

Meta Description: Under Meta Description, we keep 160 characters with our focus keyword at the beginning of the sentence. We also try to involve our other keyword in our Meta description. We make it like a summary of the page, keep it unique and at the end place our brand name. Keep everything in sentence case.

Heading: Keep the focus keyword in Heading 1 (We have six types of headings:- h1,h2—h6) and other keywords in h2 Heading if possible. Use title case in every heading.

Content: In Digital Marketing we know our content is king. So we always write rich content on each page more than 300 words. In our content we include our focus keyword and other related keywords, use synonyms and related words instead of repeating the focus keyword too many times and distribute our keywords in the whole content. Remember one thing that we keep our keywords prominently for about 2.5% of words(keep it in bold).

Internal Links: Create links with your previous pages because if a page gets lots of traffic, so visitors move to that link which is relevant to that content. In this way your previous pages also get traffic.

Images: When you add an image, give a relevant content in his file name with a keyword. Keep the keyword in ALT Tag. Always use lowercase for file names and use hyphens(-) to separate the words.

Videos: When you embed a relevant video from youtube, so provide a short description of that video that contains relevant keywords. If you didn’t describe that video so algorithm won’t understand what you provide in that video and it’s also effective in your search engine ranking.

Off-Page SEO

Off-Page SEO focuses on getting links from other websites. It’s an ongoing activity and needs regular new links that are given importance by search engines. In this, if your website gets a link in a highly popular trusted website, so search engine thinks that you are done some better thing that’s why that website recommended you. By this, your website gets lots of traffic as well as high-quality links which improve your ranking in search engines. But it’s a risky way because if your website gets links from that website that is not trusted so algorithm automatically decreases your rank in search engine. That’s why in Off-Page quality matters not quantity because if you get one trusted link it gives you more points in the comparison to 10 cheapest website links.
